These are some of the stories that make you ponder.

HUBLI: Usually, writers prefer scenic locales to pen down their words. But this man goes to a place which others can't even think of, especially while looking for inspiration __ graveyard.

No, he is neither a ghost writer nor a writer churning out horror stories, but still heads to graveyards to let his ink flow. And Sadhu Kathare has been doing the same for the past three decades and penned many books at various graveyards in the city. His books cover plays and life history of saints, philosophers and the like.

Besides being a writer, 70-year-old Sadhu is also a good theatre artiste. He has acted in hundreds of dramas enacted by drama companies of Master Hirannaiah, Chindodi Leela, Munirangappa, etc. The plays in which he donned roles include Lachavatara, Ganga Tunga, Makmaltopi, Raktaratri, Manemagalu, Tippusulta, etc.

After settling in Hubli, Sadhu set up his own drama company Gurusiddeshwara Natya Sangha in 1982 and preferred to act in plays written by himself.

Sadhu said he got disturbed when he tried to write the paly `Gurusiddeshwara Mahatme' at his home in 1982. A visit to a garden too did not help, thanks to the visitors there. He then hit upon the idea of writing in graveyards __ which are often deserted __ which ensured silence for his thoughts to flow. After printing the books with the help of sponsors, he used to give them to mutts and drama companies.

Speaking to `The Times of India', Sadhu said: "I get ideas while writing in graveyards. For me, graveyards are like temples and I believe it is the abode of Lord Shiva." Sadhu, who does not wear a shirt while writing, shifts to another graveyard when people come to his "place of work" to perform the last rites.

"I get a pension of Rs 1,000 and Rs 4,000 from the state and central governments, respectively. I earn a small amount from books and plays," he added.

Sadhu is now busy with a book on `Jagajyoti Basavanna'. "I'm suffering from health problems, and I have to support myself with the meagre income," he added.

* Sadhu has written over 35 books, which include Sri Sharif Shivayogigala Mahatme, Sri Mrutyunjaya Swamigala Mahatme, Siddharoodha Swamigala Mahatme, Sakidahuli, Shivasharana Haralaya, Shirdi Saibaba Mahatme.

* After printing the books with the help of sponsors, he gives them to mutts and drama companies.

* He has been given the sobriquet `Sadhu Kavi'. Kannada and cultural department, district administration and local leaders have recommended his name for the Rajyotsava Award.

This is a phenomenon, not only for India, but such stories can be found everywhere across the World. But how many actually consider giving them a thought. In Hindi, such persons are called "Swawalambi" or self-dependent. Despite his meagre means, this man has not really spread his hands for alms, not joined the band of beggars. But then, does the media always capture such people? Or do we only look at the beggars on the streets.
Humanity has become a selfish society, that only looks at the ends, not the means. If this same man was named Tagore, he would have been paid attention to years back. But then, he is not, and neither anyone would notice him after this. This is the common man, who has nothing really to look forward to, then survival, and survival with self-consciousness and self-pride. They do not want recognition, neither they expect anything from us. It is just a matter of taking these persons as role models. Who wants role models for actors, politicians (there are no statesmen anymore), corporate biggies. Values are becoming non-existent today. God, is only supposed to exist in temples, mosques or churches, outside, God does not exist.

Wish, if the generation of today can take cue for such persons and really pay them due respect, because they stand-by their own values, not the value of money. Is it money alone that makes a person worthy of respect?
You think you know better values? You have compassion, humanity?

well let me tell you an incident and judge yourselves by this, keeping yourself in place.

It was a Sports Stadium. Eight Children were standing on the track to participate in a running event.
* Ready! * Steady! * Bang !!!
With the sound of Toy pistol, All eight girls started running. Hardly had they covered ten to fifteen steps,
when one of the smaller girls slipped and fell down.
Due to bruises and pain she started crying.
When the other seven girls heard the little girl cry they stopped running, stood for a while and turned back. Seeing the girl on the track they all ran to help.
One among them bent down, picked her up and kissed her gently and enquired as to how she was...............
They then lifted the fallen girl pacifying her.
Two of them held her firmly while all seven joined hands together and walked together towards the winning post........ .

There was pin drop silence at the spectator's stand. Officials were shocked.
Slow claps multiplied to thousands as the spectators stood up in appreciation. Many eyes were filled with tears.

YES.!! This happened in Hyderabad [ INDIA ]! Came to know from a very good friend of mine.

The sport was conducted by National Institute of Mental Health.

All these special girls had come to participate in this event. They were spastic children. Yes, they were Mentally Challenged, if brainier people may want to feel proud.

What did they teach the WORLD?
Teamwork.?
Humanity.?
Equality among all.??
Compassion???
